thankfully, though i have to take the semester off, i was able to find a really great internship. it's at an internet domain company, and i do computery/internety stuff all day long which is quite easy and sometimes fun. and it's a paid internship!!! wooooo (plus it's kinda cool working in the office-- the place is really nice and everyone is so friendly)
it's really funny, too, some of the stuff i overhear in the office. first of all, my cubicle is kind of near the guys who answer the phones for people trying to buy internet domains, and so many of them are from other countries. so the guys practically always having to ask, "do you speak english?" and repeating everything. i also hear a lot of, "you've got the wrong number" or "um....this is buydomains.com....".
then in the cubicle right next to me, this guy often talks to someone on the phone (i presume his wife), and one time he went on and on about his kids teeth. he was talking about dentist appointments and saying how "he drinks a lot of juice, it's bad for his teeth." in the same vein, this other women near also every day, without fail, talks to someone on the phone in the afternoon about what her son ate that day. "he ate all the pancakes?! that's great!" or "make sure he eats all his lunch." or "if he doesn't eat the lunch i packed a can of babyfood in the front pocket." lol
and then of course, it's pretty amusing some of the domains i have to edit. "foxygrandpa" was one i got today, "electroniccatdoor" was a classic... the list goes on. i'll keep updating when i find more funny ones

my plants
at the beginning of this summer, i bought these adorable miniature flower pot/kits from target only a dollar each... so of course i had to buy one of each kind lol. but i finally got around to planting them about two weeks ago i think, and i have been amazed how much they've grown! it's actually been really fun to watch. but now, they're getting too big for their adorable pots, so i transplanted them to bigger pots outside. i know it's getting cold already, and they may not last, but it was worth a shot.
here's the plants in their adorable pots (top picture is from left to right lemon-basil, daisies, strawberries, forget-me-nots, bottom picture is sunflowers and tomatoes)
and their new homes!
they didn't really do so well in the move..... lol but hopefully they'll perk up with the sun tomorrow.

now a slightly happier post
this past summer, i had an internship at the phoenix, a media communications company in boston that owns the radio station fnx, the newspaper the phoenix, and the magazine stuff. it's a pretty cool company, focusing on night life and entertainment and music and boston which is prety cool. for my internship, at one point i got to work at the door letting people in to one of these parties that they hold sometime (at trendy hotels, with famous dj's, and free food and drinks). normally they have people called "street team" members do it. so, now that i'm home this fall, in addition to my new internship that i've gotten, i decided to also be an actual street team member.
anyways, worked my first "event" this past thursday. i basically had to wear a tee-shirt and a hat with the client's name (metro pcs) and hand out the phoenix newspaper to people getting off the train at south station, along with another street team member. it actually turned out to be quite fun! it was so crazy because obviously all these people are in bad moods, on their way to work and stressed out, and i was just like prancing around with a smile saying "good morning, would you like a phoenix?!" and when people didn't take one i just said, "have a nice day!" i don't know why, there was just something fun about being so cheerful when everyone else was so not cheerful. one lady also said, "i'll take a paper from the beautiful phoenix lady" haha.
we had to take pics of ourselves to prove to the client we actually did it, so thought i'd post them for kicks:

slightly sad post
haven't posted in while, and quite frankly, now that i'm stuck at home for a semester, i have no excuse. so i will try to update more often, with random things i find that are cool, etc. and i have been told by one friend that they enjoy reading my blog, so that also gives me motivation :) i really didn't think anyone read this... i have one person, so there!
and it september now. so weird. i still can't really believe i'm at home right now. UGH.
